When was GlycanAge founded?

GlycanAge began as a way to bring cutting-edge science out of the lab and into everyday health decisions. Built on more than three decades of research into glycans—complex sugars that coat cells and regulate immunity and inflammation—the company was co-founded in 2018 by glycobiology pioneer Professor Gordan Lauc and his daughter Nikolina Lauc to commercialise this science through a biological age test that measures how an individual’s immune system is ageing and responds to lifestyle and environmental factors.

The mission is to shift healthcare from a reactive model to a proactive one by making glycan-based insights accessible to both consumers and clinicians, securing significant funding to expand clinical applications, form partnerships with hospitals, and develop diagnostic tools for stress, cardiometabolic health and other areas of preventive medicine.
