How do I take the GlycanAge sample?
The steps you need to take to take your GlycanAge sample to make sure it's in top quality for reaching the lab.
When it comes to taking the GlycanAge sample here is what you need to follow:
Here is a handy video demonstration.
1. Open up the kit: you have your instructions, return envelope and then blood card and all testing apparatus.
2. Remove all items from the plastic bag, you should have 2x alcohol wipes, 3x Lancets, 1x Gauze pad, 2x plasters/band-aids and 1x of the GlycanAge blood card.
3. Make sure you are hydrated and warm for blood draw, a quick shower for example will get your body up to a nice blood flowing temperature.
4. Wipe the finger of choice for the blood draw with one of the provided alcohol wipes and let it dry, it's Isopropyl Alcohol so this should take no longer than 10-15 seconds.
5. Remove the cap from the lancet, place the contact point on the finger and push down. This triggers a spring to jolt out and pierce the skin to create a blood flow.
6. Drop the blood from your finger onto the card, making sure around (at least) 40% of the area of the circles is filled. DO NOT touch the card with your finger during this process.
7. Use the gauze pad to wipe away excess blood on the finger/hand and then use one of the plasters to patch yourself up.
8. Let the sample sit and dry for 2 hours. Once this is complete, reseal it airtight into the original plastic bag it came from.
9. Place it back in the envelope and post it back to us!
